Hiking in the Landes de Gascogne regional natural park

Les Landes de Cascogne is a wooded nature reserve along the Atlantic Ocean coast (the Bay of Biscay), south of the Gironde and the Garonne River, west of Nérac and north of the Adour River. The forest consists largely of pine trees. There is a dune area with numerous lakes along the coast. Below the Bassin d'Arcachon bay you will find a large sand dune, Dune du Pilat. The main economic activities in the area are forestry, agriculture and tourism.
