The Sierra del Segura is a mountain area in the extreme south of the province of Albacete and of the autonomous region of Castile-La Mancha. You will find peaks above 2000 meters, fertile valleys, vast forests and deep ravines.
The area consists of the following sub-areas:
In the north is La Sierra del Agua. The Río Mundo flows through this area.
To the west we find the Parque Natural de los Calares del Mundo y de la Sima. It includes two ridges of calcareous rock, the Calar del Mundo and the Calar de la Sima. The ridges are separated by the valley of the Tus River. In this area, a karst landscape with gorges, sinkholes and caves has developed over thousands of years. The heights of the Calar del Mundo vary from about 1400 to 1700 meters. The Mundo River originates in a cave system, of which 32 kilometers are known. At the edge of the ridge, he crashes out of the cave with a huge waterfall. This tourist attraction is called El Nacimiento del Río Mundo (the birth of the Mundo River). The Calar de la Sima has the highest peak of the natural park with the Mentiras (1897m).
To the east is the valley of the Segura River. The Río Mundo and the Río Tus flow into the Río Segura.
In the south is the Sierra de las Cabras, the largest part of which consists of a protected nature reserve. Here you will find the highest peaks: El Cagasero (2043m), Pico de las Cabras (2080m) and La Atalaya (2083m).
