This walk follows the Way of St James Via Monastica between Dinant and Givet. We mainly follow paths directly along the banks of the Meuse.
In Dinant we start at the Abbey of Our Lady of Leffe (XII). We follow the quays on the east side of the Meuse. We walk past the imposing Collegiate Church of Our Lady (XIII) with above it, on a rock, the Citadel of Dinant (1818). On the other side of the river we see the beer museum Maison Leffe. Further on we pass the Ros Beiaard rock. With a bridge we cross the river Lesse, where it flows into the Meuse. We arrive in the Anseremme district. We continue to follow the path along the Meuse, passing the Priory of Anseremme (XV). A little further on, on the other side, we see the castle of Freÿr (XVI). We walk underneath the famous climbing rocks of Freÿr. On a narrow path between rock and Meuse we pass the rock Le Pape. We have now reached Hastière.
At the weir and locks of Hastière, we cross the Meuse and continue our path along the western bank. At Heer we cross the border between Belgium and France. The path runs along the Canal de l'Est, which runs parallel to the Meuse. Arriving at the harbor area of Givet, we leave the Meuse on a road that leads us to the center of Givet. At the end of the walk we are again at the quay of the Meuse.
