Saulieu: L'Argentalet

This walk goes largely through the national forest of Saulieu. You start on the Hauts d'Arnault. You follow part of the old Roman road from the Gallic fortified town of Bibracte to the Gallo-Roman settlement of Alésia. The walk continues across open terrain around Mongin-le-Beau. You pass the Argentalet river with a road over the dam of a small reservoir. Immediately after the lake you enter the forest again. The path leads you to a second reservoir, the Étang de l'Argentalet. You can rest here on benches and look out over the beautiful lake. A narrow path takes you back to the parking lot on the Route Forestière de Gail.
