Walk through the Groudle Glen in Onchan, Baldrine and the Ballannette estate.
The walk starts at the tram stop Groudle Glen. We descend directly into the Glen and walk along the Groudle River until we are almost at the mouth of the Irish Sea. Here we cross the Groudle Glen Railway and follow the path in a northerly direction to the St. Adamnan church. The church has a collection of antique Celtic crosses, which are free to visit.
After this we walk on country roads to the village of Baldrine. In the Lower Packhorse Lane, directly on the other side of the A2, we find a Neolithic monument: The Cloven Stones. We walk along a path to the Clay Head Road. From the Clay Head, the top of a hill, you have beautiful views over the Irish Sea, the Laxey Bay, the town Laxey and the hills beyond, including Snaefell. There is a bench and a panoramic map on the Clay Head.
We are in the middle of the Ballannette nature reserve. Over a small path we descend to a viewpoint that is only 20 meters above sea level. We continue through the nature reserve and pass the entrance to Clayhead Farm. The path leads through the Ballannette Wetlands.
When we leave the Ballannette park we arrive at Ballamenagh Road (directions 1-36). If you turn left here, you can return to the tram station Groudle Glen on King Edward Road via the same route from the start of the walk. You can also follow the directions and turn right. You will arrive at the tram stop Ballamenagh on the A2. Take the tram from the Manx Electric Railway in the direction of Douglas and get off at the Groudle Glen stop at the start of the walk.
