De Hondsrug

Walk along the Hondsrug at Drouwen and Gasselte.

The walk goes through the woods of the forestry Gieten-Borger. From the Buitencentrum Boomkroonpad you walk through the woods to the brook valley of the Anderse Diep. At the Kuil, you pass a small heather field and walk back into the woods. The forests are planted on former drift dunes. We pass recreational lake ’t Nije Hemelriek. A little further on we find the old Hemelriek, a natural mere. We walk along the edge of the woods and see the fields at Gasselte. A path through the forest brings us back to the Boomkroonpad.
