Circular walk on the Hondsrug.
You walk across the Buiner veld on the Hondsrug.
The walk starts at parking Buiner veld. You follow the Mammoth Trail. You walk through the woods to a heathland. At the end of the heathland you will come to a pingo ruin; this is a remnant of a frost hill ’pingo’ from the last ice age.
Then you walk further along a small pond and through the forest to the Buiner keet; this is a rebuilt ox stable that now serves as a shelter for hikers and cyclists. There is also the Beatrix tree, an oak that was planned in 1938 on the occasion of the birth of Princess Beatrix.
The walk goes along forest paths to the ’Omgevallen bos’ (Fallen forest). Along the heath and through the forest you come back to the parking lot.
The route is marked with blue posts.
