IJlst: Ruterpolder

Circular walk, 4 km

Route: IJlst: Ruterpolder

The walk starts on the Galamagracht. You walk to Nooitgedagt, one of the factories where ice skates used to be made. You cross the ferry and arrive at It Ruterpolderpaad, a walking path through the meadows. You walk along the Baukesleat and over the dike of the Wide Wimerts to the Ruterpolderwei. Along the way you have wide views of IJlst. Then you walk on the Eegracht and Galamagracht along the old buildings of IJlst. The gardens on the water used to be used as bleaching fields. The Galamagracht takes you back to the starting point.

NB! The path through the Ruterpolder is closed from March 15 to June 15 for hikers due to the bird breeding season. During this period, this walk is limited to a walk along the Eegracht and Galamagracht.
