Appingedam - Tjamsweer - Krewerd - Jukwerd

Circular walk, 13 km

Route: Appingedam - Tjamsweer - Krewerd - Jukwerd

The circular walk starts in the small town of Appingedam, near the Reformed Church on Dijkstraat. You cross the Damsterdiep with a bridge and you pass the Nicolaaskerk. Further on you go again with a bridge over the Damsterdiep. After you have walked past the old town hall and the Nicolaïkerk you walk over a bridge again. The houses on the Damsterdiep have ’hanging kitchens’, bay windows above the water.
The walk continues to Tjamsweer. There is the church from 1538, built on a mound.
Afterwards you walk along quiet country roads and paths to Kerwerd, where the Maria Church from 1280 stands. This church is also built on a mound.
Here the walk goes back to Appingedam. You pass the church (1866) in Jukwerd and you walk through rural areas back to Appingedam.
