Sellingen - Ruiten Aa

Circular walk, 14 km

Route: Sellingen - Ruiten Aa

You walk from the esdorp Sellingen with a church trail past the Reformed church (14th century). Then you walk across the ’es’ and the Sellinger Bossen to the Ruiten-Aakanaal. This canal was dug to combat flooding. It has been used as a shipping route for a long time.

You arrive at the Heliophytenfilter. These are reed filter pools to purify the water from the channel. You walk with paths along the ponds and then walk through rural areas to the Ruiten-Aa. You follow the winding river through the grasslands.

You arrive at Ter Borg. There you walk through heathland and past fens. You walk through oak forests to the ’Theater of Nature’ viewpoint at the Ruiten-Aa. You walk back along the river to the starting point.
