This walking route is a shortened version of the Gaasp, Gein, Angstel, Holendrecht, Bullewijk (25km) along the rivers around Amsterdam Zuidoost.
We start at Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena station and first walk through the Bijlmerplein shopping area. Then through the large city parks the Nelson Mandelapark (formerly Bijlmerpark) and the Gaasperpark. We follow the south bank of the Gaasperplas until we reach the Gaasp and the village of Driemond. Then we walk along the Gein to Abcoude. In Abcoude we follow the Angstel northwards.
This time we cross over the Angstel with the bridge between the Meerlandenweg and the Broekzijdeselaan and continue across the Amsterdamsestraatweg. We pass Abcoudermeer on the east side. We cross the De Hoge Dijk recreation area on small paths. We follow a cycle path through the grounds of the Academic Medical Center.
After this we pick up the original route again and walk through Bullewijk, past the Johan Cruijff Arena back to the station.
