A lot of rain fell in the autumn and winter of 2023 / 2024. As a result, the groundwater levels in the Kennemerduinen are very high. Paths are flooded and several paths are closed to hikers. This high-water route avoids flooded paths as much as possible. However, the wide path Noordweg east is interrupted by a large puddle. The Zeeweg cycle path is also under water at one point. In both cases you can walk around the lake to the left.
Because of the abundance of water, the nature of the dunes is even more beautiful than usual!
You can also walk the route when the water has subsided again. It is a beautiful route, but it covers 2.7 kilometers of cycle paths: De Doorbraak, the Zeeweg and the Eerste Dwarsweg. This is not a problem at quiet times, but annoying when it is busy.
