This beautiful forest walk starts at the Beauforthuis. From there you walk through the varied forests of Austerlitz forestry.
You will soon arrive at the Kuil van Stoop. Johannes B.Stoop conducted research here between 1833 and 1836 into the composition of the earth’s crust.
You walk further through the forest to the Pyramide Van Austerlitz. This monument was erected on 12 October 1804 by General Auguste de Marmont in memory of the residence of his 18,000-man army on the Uterechtse Heide. He dedicated the monument to Napoleon, who was crowned emperor in that year. The stone obelisk on the Pyramide dates from 1894 and was installed by J.B. de Beaufort, the then mayor of Woudenberg. It is possible to climb the Pyramid. On the Pyramide you have beautiful views of the area.
You continue the walk through the forest to arrive at heathland.
Then you walk past De Wallenberg, a location where around 1800 there was a home surrounded by farmland. A little further was the Smitsput, the well.
You walk further through the forest and you arrive at the Kozakkenput.
The walk now goes through forests and beautiful heaths back to the Beauforthuis.
