Rio Guadiana, Pulo do Lobo

Back and forth walk, 4 km

Route: Rio Guadiana, Pulo do Lobo

Pulo do Lobo is a waterfall in the river Guadiana, about 17 kilometers north of Mértola. The waterfall can be reached via both banks.

stage 1 - forth (2 km 168)

Our walk starts on the east side of the river, from the main road of São Bras, a hamlet south of Serpa, to Vale do Poço. (Leave Serpa on the south side via the Estrada de São Braz or head west from Vale do Poço and follow signs to Pulo do Lobo.)

Walk on a dirt road in the direction of the river. You end up at a parking lot on a rock that gives a nice overview of the area around the waterfall. (You can also drive here by car.) There is a short, steep descent to the Rio Guadiana with the waterfall Pulo do Lobo immediately in front of you. You can walk to the left and to the right along the bank, but there is no path and the bottom consists of jagged rocks. So be careful!

stage 2 - back (2 km 168)

We walk back through the parking lot and the dirt road to the main road.
