Portagem - Marvão - Abegoa

Walk along the medieval cobblestone road from Portagem to Marvão and back via Abegoa.

The route starts in Portagem at the outdoor swimming pool in the Rio Sever. Via a medieval cobblestone road the route goes up through a forest with cork oaks and chestnuts. The road leads to the church and monastery of Nossa Senhora de Estrela. On top of the mountain is the walled city of Marvão. We visit the city.

Then the route continues on antique cobblestone roads to Abegoa.

From Abegoa we return to Portagem. We walk on unpaved roads and paths between cork oaks and granite blocks.

We get back to the medieval cobblestone road that we now descend. We walk the last part along the other bank of the Rio Sever.
