The hike starts at the top of Brocken (1141m), the highest mountain in Northern Germany. In clear weather you have a view over the Harz.
The descent follows the course of the Hexenstieg. You walk on the wide, asphalted Brockenstraße to Brockenbett. There you continue on the Glashüttenstraße. You walk down mostly paved roads and paths. You walk through forests and have beautiful views along the way. There is a viewpoint at the rock Trudenstein. You reach the Drei Annen Hohne station via a forest road.
You can travel with the Brockenbahn, a small train, from Drei Annen Hohne station to the top of the Brocken. This train journey takes about an hour and goes up through the woods via Schierke.
