Route: Gaggi - Mitogio - Castiglione di Sicilia: Gole Alcantara

Walk from the village of Gaggi to the Gole Alcantara.

stage 1 - forth (6 km 391)

You walk from Gaggi to the bridge. You cross the Alcantara and then take the road along the river. You follow this road until you reach the hamlet of Mitogio. You walk through the village and continue on wide paths parallel to the Alcantara. You continue until you descend on a narrow path to the Gole Alcantara.

stage 2 - back (6 km 391)

You walk back the same way.

Gole Alcantara

If you follow the river upstream for a few hundred metres from the end of the walk, you will reach the actual Gole, a narrow gorge carved out over the centuries by the Alcantara in the hard lava rock. If you want to see it, you will have to wade through the river. Water shoes recommended!
