The walk starts in IJlst, a Frisian town where ice skates used to be made. The chimney of Nooitgedagt and the building with the inscription "Frisia schaatsen fabriek" remind of this.
You walk through IJlst and then walk along the Easthimmer Mar to Oosthem. The Johanneskerk van Oosthem can be seen and will remain in sight for the rest of the walk. You walk through Oosthem and cross the bridge to the Swalkerspaed. This path goes through the meadows and over ditches to Pikesyl. You walk along the Pikemar and end up in Nijesyl.
You walk partly along the Wilddraai back to the Galamagracht in IJlst.
