Walk through the Volgermeerpolder

You walk with a path through the meadow to the Zuideinde of Broek in Waterland. You will arrive in the Volgermeerpolder.

The Volgermeerpolder is an excavated peat area that was used from 1927 as a landfill. The heavily contaminated landfill site was closed in 1980 and remediated from 2003. Since 2011 it has been set up as a nature reserve. It has become a green bird paradise.

After the Volgermeerpolder you walk back to Broek in Waterland. You walk along the Molengouw, the Burgemeester Peereboomweg and the Atjehgouw through rural areas. You walk along a path through the meadow along the Broekervaart back to Broek in Waterland.
