A walk along the remains of the mine of São Domingos, Achada do Gamo, and along the old railway line São Domingo - Pomorão.
From the 19th century, copper was mined in the mine; when the mines became exhausted in 1930 they started to extract sulfur. In 1965 the mine closed.
You walk through the mining town of São Domingo from the church past miners’ houses.
Then you walk to the park, where the villas of the management and the engineers were.
After that you will walk along the former railway route. Along the way the remains of the mining era are clearly visible. You walk past the ruins of factories, warehouses, stations and pyrite ovens.
You will arrive in Santana de Cambas, which is halfway the old railway line.
Then you walk back to São Domingos via Montes Altos. There you walk around the Mina e Ruinas and past the open mine Corte de São Domingos.
From there you walk back to the Igreja de São Domingos.
