Walk from Stonethwaite to Watendlath and via Rosthwaite back to Stonethwaite.
We cross the Stonethwaite Beck and follow the river for about 300 meters in a southeastern direction. We take a path to the left that climbs to Watendlath Fell. It is a steep path that consists for a large part of stairs. Once upstairs we find ourselves in a moist moorland between rocks (crags). We pass a small lake called Dock Tarn. The path is swampy and is sometimes difficult to find.
We descend to a lower section. There we see a second lake, Watendlath Tarn. We walk along the shore of the lake. We cross the Watendlath Beck for a short visit to the hamlet of Watendlath.
After a short climb, we descend into the valley of the river Derwent. The trail offers beautiful views of the hills on the other side of the river and on the valley. At Rosthwaite we follow the Stonethwaite Beck to return to Stonethwaite via the same bridge from the way there.
