Sortino: Necropolis of Pantalica

From the car park of the nature reserve entrance on the Sortino side, you walk along a path into the Calcinara valley. The path carved into the rocks leads past caves and tombs carved into the karst stone. You arrive at the Torrente Calcina. Then the path goes up again to the Villagio Bizantino della Cavetta, where more tombs can be seen. Then the path descends steeply to the valley of the Anapo. Below you follow the route of the former railway line Siracusa - Giarratana - Ragusa. You walk through a tunnel carved into the rocks, the Galleria Cascitta. You follow the footpath until you turn off to the Sentiero Bisanti, with which you continue walking through the gorge of the Anapo. Then you walk up a path to the car park.
