Walk along the northeastern slope of the São Paulo mountain range to the chapel of Nossa Senhora Da Penha (Our Lady of the Rock) with stunning views over Castelo de Vide.
The walk starts at the edge of Castelo de Vide, at the Nossa Senhora Dos Remédios church. We first descend to the streams that form the origin of the São João river. Then we climb the slope of the São Paulo mountain range. We walk along the Fonte Santa (Holy Fountain) and continue climbing over a medieval cobblestone road. At the highest point of the walk we reach the chapel of Nossa Senhora Da Penha.
We descend, first on a normal road, but later on a medieval cobblestone road. We pass the shrine of São Paulo. At the bottom of the road, you will find the Fonte Nova (New Fountain).
We walk through the hamlet of Brejo, with the chapel of Senhor do Bonfim and Fonte do Cortiço (Fountain of the Beehive). We climb the hill on which Castelo de Vide is built. We pass the shrine of Santo André, walk through the town, pass the center on the south side and descend to the Nossa Senhora Dos Remédios church.
