El Ruta del Emparador is the route that Emperor Carlos V traveled in 1557 from the castle in Jarandilla to the monastery in Cuacos de Yuste.
The walk goes in the opposite direction: from Cuacos de Yuste to Jarandilla.
The start is at Monasterio de San Jerónimo de Yuste. You walk along the path parallel to the EX-391 to Cuaco de Yuste. Halfway you pass the Cementerio Soldados Alemanes, a cemetery for German soldiers from the first and second world war.
You walk through Cuacos de Yuste over the Plaza de Don Juan, the Plaza España and you walk through the Calle Sta. Ana out of the village.
Then you walk along a rural path to Aldeanueva de la Vera. You walk through the village via the Fuente de los Ocho Caños until you arrive at the Garganta de San Gregorio.
You cross the EX-203 and then walk to Jarandilla de la Vera. You cross the Puente Parral and walk through the village to Castilla de Jarandilla.
