Route: Castell de Castells: Els Arcs

Walk across the plains of Dalt and El Xarquet with a modest climb to the spectacular rock formation of Els Arcs (the Arches), which are located at the bottom of the north slope of the Morrets de Pastor peak (1156m) in the Serrella Mountains.

stage 1 - Pla de Dalt - Aljub del Xarquet (1 km 491)

You walk on a wide dirt road, until you turn off at a hiking sign to the Aljub de Xarquet, a cistern (water cellar). That's where you walk.

stage 2 - Aljub del Xarquet - Els Arcs (2 km 029)

From the water cellar you walk back to the hiking sign. There you follow a path up, with beautiful views of the Sierra de Serrella. You arrive at Els Arcs, two limestone arches.

stage 3 - Els Arcs - Penya Escoda (1 km 706)

From Els Arcs you walk on paths to Penya Escoda. There is a view point.

stage 4 - Penya Escoda - Pla de Dalt (1 km 506)

The final leg goes from Penya Escoda back to the starting point on country roads.
