Walk through the Garganta Verde. You descend to the gorge of the Bocaleones stream. A large colony of griffon vultures lives in the Garganta Verde.
You walk from the parking lot on the path. You will pass the Mirador de la Garganta Verde. You walk on. Then the path begins to descend steeply to the Arroyo del Pinar. You continue until you reach the Cueva de la Ermita.
You walk back the same way.
It is an astonishingly narrow and deep gorge, the walls of which reach up to 400 meters in height, the result of the erosion by the Bocaleones stream, which rises at the edge of the Spanish Silver Fir Forest.
The depth and narrowness of the site, together with the seepage of water on the walls, create a humid and cool environment that allows the spread of a striking plant carpet that gives its name to the canyon.
The laurel stands out because this is the only place in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park where it occurs in the wild. The fig trees clinging to the slopes seem to defy the law of gravity. In the stream bed we find the acanthus with its huge leaves and beautiful flowering in the months of May and June, and tree-like oleanders.
During the walk you can observe birds adapted to life in the rocks: the griffon vulture, the red-billed chough, the rock pigeon, different species of swallows, the king swift in summer...
