Monachil: Veleta

A walk in the Sierra Nevada from the Hoya de la Mora car park to the Veleta.

stage 1 - forth (4 km 002)

From the parking lot you walk along the path up to the Virgen de las Nieves. The walk continues uphill over stony paths. You walk through a ski area and you pass Observatorio de Sierra Nevada. You always have beautiful views of the surroundings and the top of the Veleta. You continue walking up the path until you reach a source of the Río Dílar. (If you walk a little further, you will reach the mountain lake Laguna de las Yeguas. More than a kilometer and 100 meters of elevation further you will find the Lagunillos de la Virgen.)

You walk back the same way.
