The walk starts in Rodalquilar, a town where gold used to be mined. You walk past the remains of the gold mines and the buildings and basins where the gold was separated. Then you walk through the mountainous landscape, where mining has also left its mark.
You walk up through the Barranco de Requena. At the top you have a view of the sea. You walk, always with the sea in sight, down to the fishing village of La Isleta del Moro. You walk through the village, along the beach and through a forest to Cala de los Toros, a bay with a black volcano beach. Then you walk on to Mirador de La Amatista, a viewing platform with views over the sea and the coastline.
The last part of the walk is on the AL-4200 back to Rodalquilar. You walk past abandoned miner's houses back to the starting point.
