Hiking in the Green Heart

In the provinces of Utrecht and North and South Holland, there is a relatively sparsely populated area between the major cities of the Randstad. This is a wetland peat meadow area with a rural character and several medium-sized cities. Many puddles have been created by peat extraction. Including the larger lakes Loosdrechtse Plassen, Langeraarsche Plassen, Nieuwkoopse Plassen, Reeuwijkse Plassen, Vinkeveense Plassen and the Braassemermeer.
